The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is an exercise program designed • help increase joint flexibility and range of motion • help maintain muscle strength Classes are available to fit your fitness level – with exercises done while sitting or standing. Instructors who have undergone a special Arthritis Foundation instructor- training workshop conduct the classes. The exercises you learn in the program, however, should not replace therapeutic exercises prescribed for you by a therapist. Participants previously enrolled in the program have experienced such benefits as increased functional ability, increased self-care behaviors, decreased pain and decreased depression. |
Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program This shallow water exercise class is designed for those with Arthritis and related conditions to improve joint movement, muscle strength, endurance, posture and balance, and to reduce stiffness and pain. Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program Tai Chi is one of the many “Complementary and Alternative to reduce your arthritis pains, decrease your dependence on pain medications, improve your function and quality of life. Dr Shibuya helped write a grant application (2011) in support of Master Tai Chi instructor, Sifu May Chen’s application for an Arthritis Foundation grant, which has allowed the Fremont Senior Center to provide this twice weekly class began every 6-8 weeks. |
